Briançon, Fort des Salettes

Le Fort des Salettes est un ouvrage d'infanterie militaire situé au-dessus de Briançon dans le département des Hautes-Alpes. Il assurait la surveillance de la route menant vers le col de Montgenèvre et l'Italie. Imaginé par Vauban, il a été édifié entre 1709 et 1712. Le 7 juillet 2008, cet ouvrage a été classé au Patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO dans le cadre du Réseau des sites majeurs de Vauban. il était constitué d'une tour carrée entourée d'un fossé et d'une galerie à feux de revers. Le fort a été agrandi en 1840 et transformé en fort d'artillerie avec la construction d'un fossé extérieur, de casemates et de bastions. Il est  inscrit sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.
